The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description
This commercial item description covers magnetic picture hangers for use in hanging pictures, clipboards, certificates, maps, and calenders on metallic (ferrous) surfaces.
Salient characteristics:
The magnetic base shall consist of a magnetized powder thoroughly dispersed in a thermoplastic or cubic rubber binder having long chains polymers highly resistant to ozone, oxygen, acids, and other corrosive chemicals.
The metal plate bonded to the magnetic base shall be furnished in grey baked enamel or as specified.
The hanger hook shall be no less than 7/16 inch length.
The hook shall be formed so that the end of the hook shall stand off from the hanger surface a minimum of 3/16 inch, shall have a rounded end shall not be wider than 7/32 inch except in the area within 3/16 inch of the base of the hook. The hook shall be centered from left to right on the hanger (see figures 1 and 2).
