5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
5.2 Performance Test. Each sample key chain reel shall be attached to a 3 pound weight and cycled through (1) full extension of the chain at a steady velocity (approximately a 3 second stroke) , (2) suspension of weight, and (3) retrieval of chain (approximately a 3 second stroke) , for 5,000 cycles at an even rate of 10 cycles per minute . Any breaking, binding, halting, or uneven operation shall constitute failure of the sample unit. Additionally, at the conclusion of the test, 8 tumbler type door keys (or equivalent weight) shall be attached to the key ring with the key ring suspended below the case. Failure of the spring to hold the ring against the case shall constitute failure of the sample unit.
5.3 Drop test. Each sample reel key chain shall be dropped from a height of 5 feet onto a concrete surface. Separation of the case or spring shall constitute failure of the sample unit.
6. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
6.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
7. NOTES
7.1 Ordering data. Purchasers should select the preferred options permitted herein and include the following information in procurement documents (if applicable).
a. Title, number, and date of this commercial item description
b. Type I, II, or III.
c. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking desired.
7.2 Part Numbering. Key chain reels conforming with this commercial item description shall be identified by a part number configuration consisting of identification of a portion of the specification number and type. An example of the part number configuration is shown below. This part numbering system is intended for identification and cross-indexing of the item within the Federal cataloging system. Part numbers are not required to be placed on the product or container.
