COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STRAP, WEBBING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description as replacement for Federal Specification
JJ-S-750A which has been canceled
This description covers commercial and industrial quality webbing strap for use as an adjustable binder to hold records and mail.
Salient Characteristics:
Strap dimensions. Strap length and width shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order and are minimum dimensions. Minimum width and length may be stated as a component of the part number and can be determined by referring to the part number example below.
Material. Cotton, cotton nylon, nylon or other synthetic yarn shall be used to fabricate the webbing.
Fabrication. The webbing shall have finished, woven edges. Cotton webbing shall be not less than 2-ply in thickness.
Color. The color of the webbing shall be at the manufacturer’s option.
Buckle. The buckle shall be movable and allow the webbing to slide freely. The design shall be similar to the single bar loop slide with the edges parallel to the slots turned downward to hold the strap securely when drawn (other designs which accomplish the same function are acceptable). The buckle shall be of the accommodating design size for the strap width specified.
Tension release. The buckle shall release pressure on the strap when the loose end of the webbing is pulled upward.
End clip. The end clip shall be design with a curved lip which will engage the buckle bar slot without binding.
Coating. The buckle and end clip shall be corrosion resistant or suitably coated to resist corrosion.
Design load. The webbing strap when engaged shall be designed to resist breaking, fraying or deformation of the metal parts when subjected to the tensile test specified below.
