COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HINGE, BUTT
(CABINET)
The General Services Administration, has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification FF-H-116, in part.
This commercial item description covers commercial and industrial quality full mortise higes, edge mounted on cabinets with flush doors.
Salient Characteristics:
The cabinet hinges shall be in accordance with ANSI/BHMA Standard A156.9 identifying number B81352 (wrought steel, grade 3) as specified.
Hinge size: Hinge size shall be as specified in the contract or order and shall be defined in terms of length of joint, minimum open width, and minimum thickness if applicable. Table I shows those sizes most often required for Government use.

1/ Dimensions shown in table I are inches, with approximate millimeter equivalents shown in parenthesis.
Dimensional tolerances: The dimensional tolerance for length of joint shall be + 1/16 inch (1.6 mm). Tolerance limits specified are absolute limits as defined in ASTM Recommended Practice E29, for indicating which places of Figures are to be considered significant in specified limiting values.
Finish. The surface of the hinge shall be electroplated zinc coated in accordance with finish code 632 of ANSI/BHMA A156.18 as specified.
