Workmanship. The locks sets shall be free from imperfections and defects which affect appearance, durability and serviceability. All finished parts of the hardware that are set flush shall have accurately machined, true edges. Edges of unfinished steel and iron and unpolished work, do not need to be machine finished, but shall be smooth and reasonably true.
Quality Assurance Provisions. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein.
Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Sampling.
Lot. All lock sets of the same type for acceptance at one time shall be considered a lot for purposes of inspection.
Sampling for quality conformance examination and testing. A random sample of lock sets shall be selected from each lot in accordance with Military Standard MIL-STD-105. ‘Sampling Procedures And Tables For Inspection By Attributes’.
Visual and inspection. Samples shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-105, general inspection level II, AQL 4.0 expressed in terms of percent defective. The sample locks sets shall be visually and dimensionally examined to verify compliance with this specification.
Test per ANSI/BHMA A156.2. One lock set shall be randomly selected for each test specified and tested for conformance with the requirements specified in ANSI/BHMA A156.2. Failure of any lock set to conform with stated requirements shall be cause for rejection of the entire lot.
Certification. Listing in the current Builder Hardware Manufacturers Association, Inc., Directory Of Certified Locks & Latches or other listing service which provides equivalent testing and follow-up service shall be considered proof of conformance with ANSI/BHMA A156.2 test requirements. Labeling, listing and follow-up service procedures are specified in the BHMA directory. The Government may refuse to accept such listing as evidence of conformance if lock sets furnished are subsequently found not to conform with requirements.
