COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LOCK SET, BORED
The General Services Administration, has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification FF-H-106.
This description covers bored type locks for residential and industrial and industrial applications.
Salient characteristics:
Design. Product design including knobs, roses, fronts, latch bolts, strikes and other components shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/BHMA A156.2 ‘American National Standard For Bored And Preassembled Locks & Latches’, for series 4000 lock sets. Lock sets furnished shall be compatible with door preparations conforming with ANSI A115.2. In the event of a conflict between this commercial item description and the standards referenced herein, this document shall take precedence.
Function and grade. Function and grade shall be in accordance with the identifying numbers shown in ANSI/BHMA A156.2.
Cylinders. When removable core or interchangeable cylinders are specified, the cylinders shall be removable by use of a control key which permits installation of a new core.
Keys. Keys shall be nickel-silver, brass or aluminum as specified. A set of two (2) keys shall be furnished with each lock set unless master keying is specified.
Master keying. Groups of lock sets shall be master keyed when specified. Three (3) master keys shall be furnished with each lock group when master keying is specified.
Finish. Unless otherwise specified, finishes shall be in accordance with BHMA/ANSI A156.18 ‘American National Standard For Material and Finishes’.
