CUP, FURNITURE

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification

ZZ-C-730, type I

This commercial item description covers cups placed under legs of furniture to protect floors and rugs.

Salient characteristics:

Shall be round with a flat base

Inside diameter 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-5/8, 1-3/4 inches, as specified (tolerance + 1/16 inch)

Shall be rubber, rubber-like or plastic material.

The rug or floor bearing surface of the cup shall be resilient to prevent sliding on a hard smooth surface.

Shall not fracture or permanently deformity and shall not mark, chemically react with, or color migrate to the surface upon which they are placed.

Workmanship. Cups shall be free from chips, sharp edges and rough areas that affect function and serviceability.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The item shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
