COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STRAP, RETAINING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification
FF-S-760, types I and II.
This commercial item description covers one-hole metal retaining straps for conduit, pipe, and cable.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be of the following types and styles, as specified:
Type I- One-hole strap
Style A- Malleable ironer steel
Style B- Cold rolled or forged steel
Type II- Two-hole strap
Style A- Steel
Sizes shall be specified in accordance with sizes for the conduit, pipe, or cable upon which they are to be placed.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of NEMA Standard No.FB-1.
The issue of NEMA Standard No.FB-1 in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with this requirement.
Workmanship. Straps shall have no pits, rust, loose scale, splits, cracks, burrs, or other defects that affect use and serviceability.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. Packaging, packing and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
